Back / Forward is part of Espace Croisé's program to establish links and active relationships between Iranian and French artists. Initiated at the beginning of 2017, this scheme enabled the presentation of artists' work at the Vidéoformes 2017 festival in Clermont Ferrand, then at the Mohsen gallery in Tehran during the TADAEX festival, and finally at Espace Croisé during the Label (2=3) exhibition.
In 2018, Back / Forward presented works by Iranian and French artists trained and living in France. The aim of this second edition is to bring together the perspectives of Iranian and French artists living and working in these two countries through their practice of digital art. This meeting provides a privileged framework for reflections on the role of digital media and their effects on our visions of the world and cultures. Indeed, digital technology has brought about a major change; our relationship with tools in our work or daily lives has been disrupted by technical and social innovations. Artists have an important role to play in this transformation. They too have seen their work modified by digital tools, changing their relationship to technique and medium.
During the exhibition: On Thursday, November 28 at 6:30 PM, the opening of the installation La vague dans la matrice, 2019 by Gaëtan Robillard, created as part of his AIRLab 2019 residency, in the dynamic of "works and research."
On Sunday, December 8 at 5 PM, sound performance La Base matérielle by Aude Rabillon as part of the Nuit des Arts.
