Exhibition
October 3rd - december 14th 2019, Espace Croisé, Roubaix, France.
Back / Forward is part of the Espace Croisé scheme which aims to establish links and active relationships between Iranian and French artists. Begun at the beginning of 2017, this system has enabled the presentation of artists' works during the festival Vidéoformes 2017 at Clermont Ferrand (France), then at the Mohsen Gallery in Tehran during the festival TADAEX, and finally at the Espace Croisé during the exhibition Label (2=3).
In 2018, Back / Forward presented pieces by Iranian and French artists trained and living in France. The objective of this second edition is to cross the views of Iranian and French artists living and working respectively in these two countries through their practice of digital art. This meeting is a privileged framework for reflections on the role of digital media and their effects on our visions of the world and cultures.
Indeed, digital technology has brought a major change. Our relationship to the tools in our work or our daily lives has been transformed by technical and social innovations. Artists have an important role to play in this transformation. They too have seen their work modified by digital tools, changing their relationship to technique and the medium.
